First thing is I would like to ask that you keep two of my brothers from Lambda Chi Alpha in your prayers. Gaton Askey's mom, Margo Mann, was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery on Monday and Adam Goodchild's mom, name unknown, is undergoing some type of surgery this Monday. Another prayer request is for the family and friends of Bradley Wahnee. He was shot and killed off campus last week. The Oklahoma City Police are investigating it as a homicide.
On a happier note, things are still going really well here. I am maintaining all of my grades and am staying involved on campus and in the community. I have applied to become a 'Big' with Big Brothers, Big Sisters. I will hear in the next week or two if I have been approved or not. I have also applied to be a college intern at Nichols Hills UMC here in OKC. From what I have been told and by what I get from their website it is the Highland Park of OKC, but the church is much smaller than HPUMC. I go for a first interview/meet and greet on Tuesday morning and am keeping my fingers crossed and praying that things work out. As far as on campus activities go we had an Oozeball tournament last weekend. Oozeball is volleyball in a mud pit and is four-on-four. My team, Chops on Top (Chops is Lambda's nickname), took third place out of 28 teams. Saturday (which I guess is today since it is after midnight) we have Jello Jam with the Alpha Phi's. Jello Jam is where you have a partner of the opposite gender and you wear knee high socks. You and another team are then in a pool of jello (the jello we use is also used by Jerry Springer so we know it is the real deal) and wrestle to get the other teams socks. The wrestling is guy vs. guy and girl vs. girl. The pool will be filled with 200 gallons of jello if I'm not mistaken. Next weekend we have our Victory which is semi-formal dance/party/outing where who our 'big brother' will be reveled. Tonight we had a Date Auction as a fund raiser for our house project. All of the associate members and a few initiated brothers did some sort of act to advertise ourself and girls bid on us to take them on a date. The minimum bid was $20 and went up from there. The most we got for one person was $225 and the lowest was a couple at $20. I was neither of these.
Other than that I am doing my best to stay out of trouble. I will be coming home to Coppell in a couple weeks for fall break and a home cooked meal.
I hope all is well with everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and I am thankful for your continued support.
God Bless <><
